Travel advice for Jhenaidah

  • Pagla Kanai tomb: Pagla Kanai was a baul mystic folk singer; his tomb in Jhenaidah Sadar is a local pilgrimage and music site.
  • Langcha at Kaliganj: Kaliganj town is known for langcha, sold at two shops on Foylar Kola Road, Subal Langcha and Mejdar Jolojog, which sell hundreds of kilos a day, usually sold out by noon. It is supplied to Jessore, Kushtia and Khulna among others.
  • Kaliganj heritage cluster: Naldanga Rajbari, Jorbangla Mosque, Golakata, Nungola and Pirpukur mosques and the Muhammadabad ruins are all in Kaliganj upazila. The Baro Bazar mosques are about 30-34 km from Jhenaidah, so combine them in one trip.
  • Getting around Jhenaidah sights: Sights near town (Dhol Samudra Dighi, Pagla Kanai, Miyar Dalan) are 3-5 km away by van-rickshaw or easy-bike; the Kaliganj and Shailkupa sights are reached by bus or CNG.
